Learning & development

We will provide you with the best possible training to give you the varied legal and business skills you need to develop your career and become a world-class commercial solicitor.

Our trainee training programme has been designed to:
  • Provide you with the technical knowledge and skills you need in each practice area during your training contract
  • Develop and maximise your performance as a trainee solicitor
  • Build on the LPC+
  • Comply with the Solicitors’ Regulation Authority regulations as set out in your training contract
We are recognised as an industry leader for our training. We were awarded Best Trainer in the Large City Firm category at the LCN/TSG Training and Recruitment awards in 2004, 2005, 2006, and 2007, and were nominated in 2008. We are the only firm ever to win this award in four consecutive years.

In addition, we were the only non-UK law firm to be included in The Times ‘Top 100 Graduate Employers’, in 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007.

The training you’ll receive will be both thorough and practical. The focus is on providing training that meets your individual needs, as well as satisfying the firm’s business requirements and our professional responsibilities as registered legal training providers.

In addition to leading edge technical training, including the necessary modules to complete your Professional Skills Course (PSC), you will benefit from training in general skills such as time management, effective communication and attention to detail.

You will receive department-specific training according to the particular seats you undertake. Each department has a training partner to oversee training needs and to act as a first point of contact for any training queries you have. And you will benefit from the personal, professional support of our Graduate Recruitment and Learning and Development teams throughout your training contract.
